Oktoberfest 2009 This Weekend!

Skimboard contest coming to Newport Beach

If you’re a skimboard fan, head down to Balboa Pier to check out the 5th annual Oktoberfest
Pro/Am Skimboarding contest this Saturday and Sunday.

There will be about 75 local amateurs and 40 of the world top-ranked pros competing for cash and prizes. This a non-profit contest to promote the sport of skimboarding and the local peninsula community.

The predicted swell should make for good conditions for the contest. Check out this video of last year’s event:
